THREAD - WHAT TO EXPECT

Possible side effects
  • Temporary discomfort and pain - generally lasts for a 2-3 weeks. In a few cases intermittent pain may be experienced for a few months.
  • Puckering or dimpling of skin and pleats usually fades within three weeks. (Overcorrection, which settles over 2-3 weeks, is desirable for prolonging the duration of the lift)
  • Some patients experience difficulty in opening their mouth widely.


Risks
  • Infection of the threads.
  • Localized pain.
  • Suture reactions with granuloma formation.
  • Snapping, migration, extrusion of threads


Recovery

Puckering and pleating may persist for 2-3 weeks. Swelling and bruising however are minimal.

Results

The results generally last for 1-2 years after which more threads will be required to maintain the effect.

The rejuvenating effect may be extremely gratifying especially when used in conjunction with other non-surgical techniques such as Botox and fillers and skin rejuvenation treatments.
