PEELS - WHAT TO EXPECT

Side effects
  • Temporary burning sensation or tingling during the peel.
  • Temporary skin peeling.
  • Redness, which fades over several weeks.
  • Sensitivity to sun.


Risks
  • Small whiteheads (temporary).
  • Cold sores - prophylaxis required in patients prone to cold sores.
  • Infection.
  • Skin pigmentation; rare with lighter peels but possible if sun exposure occurs during the healing phase.


Recovery

  • Dry peeling skin after the treatment should not be picked as this may result in prolonged healing or redness.
  • New skin forms within five to ten days.
  • Absolute sun protection for 4 months after a TCA peel.


Results

Your skin will be noticeably smoother and fresher looking. Repeat peels are indicated to maintain benefits.
