Alphahydroxy acids including glycolic, lactic or fruit acids, are the mildest of the peel formulas and produce light peels. These types of peels can provide smoother, brighter-looking skin.
Recovery times are short and therefore particularly useful for people who can't spare the time to recover from a deeper peel.
Varying concentrations of an AHA are applied weekly to obtain the best result. Alphahydroxy acid can also be mixed with a facial wash or cream in a lower concentration as part of a daily skin-care regimen.
Uses
- Smoothes rough, dry skin.
- Improves texture of sun-damaged skin.
- Helps to control acne.
- Can be used to prime the skin for a more even TCA peel.
Considerations
* A series of peels is needed.
Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA)
Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) is used in varying concentrations to produce different depths of peeling. It is most commonly used for medium-depth peeling.
Uses
- Smoothes out fine surface wrinkles.
- Removes superficial blemishes.
- Corrects some pigmentry problems.
