Full face - 1 hour
Anaesthesia
- Micro-needling - topical anaesthetic cream (doctors rooms - requires a minimum of 6 treatments)
- Medical Needling - local anaesthetic with sedation (theatre procedure)
Preparation for Micro-needling
The skin should be prepared with vitamin A and C prior to the treatment and then continued during and after needling to enhance collagen and elastin production.
Longer period of preparation are associated with faster healing and better results.
Micro-needling
Topical anaesthetic cream is applied to the areas to be needled after thorough cleansing and removal of surface oils. It takes on average about 30 minutes for the anaesthesia to develop. Once anaesthesia has developed, your surgeon will do the needling. You might feel the roller working but it should not be painful. Some people, particularly those with a low pain threshold or those who are very anxious may have some discomfort. The use of an analgesic or tranquiliser, before the procedure, will ease any discomfort. Each segment of the face, neck etc. will be treated sequentially.
Once the Micro-needling is complete, the skin will be washed again and your Vitamin containing creams re-applied on the treated area and your normal skin care regime, both day and night will be continued.
You will easily be able to return to work/ normal social life the day after the treatment. Mild redness is common for the first 2-3 days.
Medical Needling
This is performed under sedation with local anaesthesia in theatre.
Bruising and swelling is maximal for the first 2-4 days. During this period you would not be at your best or amenable for public appearances! Swelling and bruising settles by the end of the 1st week.
