At first only the upper third of the face was treated but with clinical experience, the benefits of treating the mid and lower thirds of the face has also been noted.
Reduction of Hyperkinetic Wrinkles

Treatment of hyperhidrosis; (excessive sweating) typically of the palms of the hands or armpits.
Extended uses
- Shaping of the eyebrow.
- Elevation of the corners of the mouth.
- Treating 'bunny' smile lines on the nose.
- Treating an uneven, 'potholed' chin due to the mentalis muscle.
- Treating an overactive depressor septi muscle, which causes the nasal tip to droop when laughing or smiling.
- Combined with fat grafts and fillers.

5 - 20 minutes depending on the number of areas to be treated.
Onset: 4-6 days.
Maximal effect 7-10 days.
Common Contra-indications
- Pregnancy or breast-feeding.
- To date, no women, inadvertently injected during pregnancy, have had teratogenicity attributed to botulinum toxin.
- Allergy to human serum albumin (a component of the solution).
- No anaphylactic reactions have been reported since 1997 when the amount of albumin was reduced by 80%.
- Patients on disprin or warfarin (will get bruising).
- Patients with unrealistic expectations or emotional distress.
